Second WWW@WCC Program Features Christmas Language

The Volunteer Educators at the Windmill Cultural Center in Fulton, Illinois, invite the public to attend the second program of the season. The December 14 Wild Winter Wednesdays at the Windmill Cultural Center (WWW@WCC) will teach visitors about the word history associated with Christmas. The public is invited to gather at 9:00 a.m. for coffee, tea, and refreshments. The program begins at 9:15. The building is accessible to people with disabilities and the program is funded through a grant from the Fulton Association for Community Enrichment (FACE).

John R. Turner will present “The Language of Christmas and Dr. Parry’s Blue Spruce.” Mr. Turner has taught at Scott Community College for 35 years. He began the tradition of live theater there in the 1980s. Twenty-three of his plays have been produced in the Quad Cities. During that period, he also won the first poetry slams held in Davenport, Moline, and at St. Ambrose University, as well as the first slams ever held on line. He ran a slam room for Warner Brothers for five years, and has edited Stirring online since the beginning in 1999. He also loves photography, cycling, and is an avid amateur astronomer who has been published in Astronomy magazine.

A new feature each week will be the addition of bread for sale by Krumpets Bakery. Guests will be able to purchase bread made with de Immigrant flour at the Windmill Cultural Center. WWW@WCC programs are held on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. from December to the end of March. Programs are free and open to the public.
