State population grows slowly, paced by metro areas

The latest U.S. Census Bureau estimate shows little change in the slow growth pattern of the state. The coordinator of the State Data Center,  Gary Krob,  says a central Iowa county is once again the leader in growth. “Dallas County is the fastest growing county in the state of Iowa — had been for a number of years now — and at a significant pace too,” Krob says. He says it was “pretty significant” growth at 12.9 percent, with the next closest in growth being Johnson County at 6.3 percent.

Primary race set for Republicans who want to run for the Clinton County Board

There are five Republicans seeking one of the two nominations available to run for the Clinton County. Yesterday (Wednesday) was the deadline for filing nomination papers.

Ten finalists have been named for the title of “Iowa’s Best Burger.”

This marks the fifth year for the contest run by the Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. This year, Iowans submitted more than 9,600 nominations naming 456 restaurants. See the finalists and more details-click ‘more’
