Tentative schedule of governmental meetings this week

The County Board and Clinton City Council are scheduled to meet this week.  Supervisors to hear about proposed new jail location and council to hear about the SRO Program.The Clinton County Board will be meeting on Tuesday morning-May 26th. The session will start at 9:15 for the business agenda.
The Supervisors will have several public hearings as part of the meeting including a budget amendment and a couple of housing subdivision developments.
The Supervisors will also hear from the Clinton County Justice Coordinating Commission Director Margaret Kuhl on the progress of selecting a site for a potential new jail, Sheriff’s Office and 9-1-1 Center and the proposed recommended site at the courthouse property-the current location of the law center. The Commission approved the current courthouse site as the location of the new facility. Details will be determined for location and layout on the property.

The next week the Clinton County Board of Supervisors will begin meeting on its typical Monday schedule starting June 1, 2015.
The meetings were temporarily shifted to Tuesday’s at the start of this year to accommodate Supervisors’ schedules. The Board of Supervisors’ meetings in Clinton County are traditionally conducted on Mondays.
The meeting time will remain at 9 A-M.

The Clinton City Council has short agendas for a meeting on Tuesday. During the business meeting the council will consider approval of the temporary modification of Springdale Drive from Bluff to 13th Avenue North to a three lane with a middle turn lane. That change would be made in striping as the street is resurfaced this summer.
During the committee of the whole session the council will hear an update on the school resource officer program. Earlier, school officials said with the promotion of one of the officers working in the school they would not replace that position and work with two offices in the school instead of three. Interim Police Chief Tom Bohle will present some ideas on the ideas on the situation.
The meeting is at 7 P-M Tuesday.

There will be a public information meeting on Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Ericksen Center, located at 1401 11th Avenue North, concerning the conversion of a couple roads to 3 lane roads with a center 2-way left turn lane: The streets planned for the switch include 2nd Avenue South (from South 14th Street to South Bluff Blvd.) and Springdale Drive (from North Bluff Blvd. to 13th Avenue North).
These conversions are scheduled to remain intact for a minimum of 2 calendar years. During this time period, the City Engineering Department will conduct a safety analysis to determine if accident rates and traffic speed are reduced during the 2 year window. The City Council will consider the merits of a permanent conversion in 2017, based on the results of this analysis.
