CCC Alumni Association Honors Outstanding Contributions

Since, 1981, Clinton Community College Alumni Association has honored outstanding contributions to the college in six different categories: ‘Read more’ for the complete list and information.

The 2015 Outstanding Volunteers Award is awarded to:

· Pam Steinhaus – Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife &

Fish Refuge US Fish and Wildlife Service

· Kevin Zidarich – US Army Corp of Engineers

· Connie Zink – Stewards of the Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge

The Bald Eagle Watch team has been named the Alumni Association Outstanding College Volunteers for 2015. Each year this team works with the college to offer an event that benefits the community on both sides of the river. Hundreds of people attend each January to learn about our region and the amazing eagles that live here. Planning, set up, a day of activities, and more are all required to organize this community favorite. The program is informative and fun.

Luigi’s is named the Alumni Association Outstanding Business Associate for 2015.

The nominator said, “The Luigi’s team of Lonny Melichiori, plus Joan, Tom, and Sharon, has worked with the college to provide an excellent and delicious dining option for our students and employees. They were willing to expand their menu, and provide more student-centered food choices. Plus, they are friendly to everyone at the college. They have been a welcome addition to the CCC!”

Gregg Mohl is honored as the Alumni Association Outstanding Friend of the College for 2015.

The nominators raved about Gregg, “Gregg is dedicated, passionate and sincere in all that he does for his students, his community and Clinton Community College. He works with the concurrent, PSEO and Online contractual classes, which have doubled under his guidance. Gregg knows what an educational bargain is available to his students through Clinton Community College, and is quick to let students and parents know. His goal is to ensure that every student succeeds in all that they do. Gregg is dedicated, passionate, and sincere in all that he does for his students.”

Susan Kunde is the Alumni Association Outstanding Alumnus for 2015.

The nominators said it well, “Susan is the person behind the scenes that keeps the entire department running smoothly. Susan’s dedication to her job and the invaluable assistance, advice and accommodations that she provides to the faculty in the science department allow us to deliver a high quality of education to our students. This, in turn, gives the students a better opportunity to gain skills that would be potentially overlooked at other education institutions. Susan is also available during many labs to help assist students. While not every student has the opportunity to work with Susan personally, every student that is enrolled in a science class at CCC has benefitted from the commitment Susan has towards her job.”

Pete Andresen is the Alumni Association Outstanding Graduate for 2015.

Pete’s nominator commented, “Pete was instrumental in the development of CCC’s Student Veteran’s Association (SVA). He has served as the president of SVA as past Student Senate president and senator. He has volunteered numerous hours with the Cruising with the Cougars Car Show, Adopt R Campus, Adopt R Highway, and various food drives. He assisted with the showing of the Honor Flight movie on campus. Pete is a member of the Honor Guard providing military honors for the funeral services of veterans in the community. His commitment to his country and fellow students is beyond reproach. Pete is a great guy who is always willing to help anyone out and go above and beyond. He is innovative, passionate and dependable.”

Jane Marlowe is the Alumni Association Outstanding Staff/Faculty Member for 2015.

“Jane is worthy of this honor for many reasons,” said her nominators. “Not only is she committed to our students, but she is also committed to our community college philosophy in all of the ways she goes above and beyond her duties. She makes herself available and approachable to students, and is often working with them not only during her office hours, but beyond to help them with class and PTK needs. She also serves on many student oriented committees, and attends many faculty professional development opportunities, such as being a member of IDEA, serving several years as treasurer.

“Jane sets a great example as Department Coordinator of Developmental Education. She does a great job of welcoming adjunct faculty members to the college, and shares her knowledge and enthusiasm with them. Jane helped to develop, and coordinates, the Learning Community. She also coordinates the Peer Tutors in the Student Success Center, doing the hiring and scheduling, and tracking of hours worked. This provides our students with a place to get help with their academic goals, and can also be providers of service to others. Jane embodies everything that an outstanding faculty member should be.”
