Plans are being unveiled to re-purpose the former Target building into a ‘multi-tenant’ facility.

Steve Howes of Howes and Jeffries Realtors confirmed that John and Lynn Zhang officially bought the building. The price for purchased is reported as about $2-million.   Howes says the couple has hired the real estate firm to help develop the facility. He says there is 95-thousand square feet in the building and the initial demand for space exceeds the available space. Howes says that speaks to the strength of the market in the Clinton area and into western Illinois. The realtor said the opening of the prison may have played a part in attracting interest from the business, but he believes it would have happened anyway.
Howes all types of businesses are interested in locating in the space from food to apparel and all other types of retail.
Renovations are expected to get started in the next 30 days. Howes expect businesses to start moving in the spring and summer of 2016. He could not release the businesses that would be locating in the former Target store building yet, but hope to announce some of them soon and others as the opening arrives.

The Zhang’s own and operate local retail space near the Target store.
