Local unemployment rate drops (links to maps included)

The unemployment rate in Clinton and Clinton County dropped in July.
In Clinton County the rate was 4.8 percent in July and that was down from 4.9 in June. A year ago it was            5.3 percent.
In those statistics the number of people employed dropped by 20 to 23,350 while the work force also declined.

In the city, the number of people considered employed also declined by 10 to 12,150 while the number considered in the workforce also declined.
That resulted in a drop in the unemployment from 5.6 percent in June to 5.4 percent in July.
