Tentative schedule of meetings this week

The Clinton City Council among governmental meetings this week-The Clinton City Council meets in a regular business session and a committee of the whole session on Tuesday September 8th.
Among the business items is the formal action by the council to select a broker the city wants to help market the railport industrial park.
During the discussion session the council will review the ‘Urban Revitalization Plan.’ Some updates may be needed to handle requests for tax abatements such as the request for an apartment complex on the west edge of the city. Another developer, Dan Dolan is also requesting incentives for a multi-family housing development and that action is related to the plan update. The council will also discuss questions regarding another proposed housing development and the agreement with the developer,
The session will start at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening.

The Fulton City Council meets on Tuesday evening at 5:30.
A developer who proposed senior housing at the old J-T Cullen site is asking the city to amend the agreement to allow family housing at the site. The council will consider supporting the change.

There will be a public information meeting on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ericksen Center, at 1401 11th Avenue North, concerning the conversion of 2nd Avenue South, from South Bluff Blvd. to South 14th Street, to a 3-lane road with a center 2-way left turn lane.

This conversion is scheduled to remain intact for a minimum of 2 calendar years. During this time period, the City Engineering Department will conduct a safety analysis to determine if accident rates and traffic speed are reduced during the 2 year window. The City Council will consider the merits of a permanent conversion in 2017, based on the results of this analysis.
The change is being made as part of the renovation work on the street.

The City of Clinton will be holding meetings about the implementation of the water shut-off agreement with Iowa American Water Company. The purpose of the meetings is to inform customers of the shut-off procedures. Customers can also inquire about the status of their sewer account with the City of Clinton, but no payments will be accepted at the meetings.
Meetings this week included Tuesday, September 8th, 4:00 P.M. Lyons Library and Thursday, September 10th, 1:00 P.M. Ericksen Center
Under the water shut-off agreement, customers of Iowa American Water Company can have their water turned off for delinquent sewer bills with the City of Clinton. Following these meetings, the City will begin the program on Monday, September 14th and send out the first shut-off notices.


The Clinton County Board will be meeting on Friday to canvass the votes from the Tuesday School Board Election.
The next business meeting for the Supervisors will be September 14th.
