ED O’NEILL’S ENDORSEMENT FOR THE RUNOFF FOR CLINTON MAYOR

Ed O’Neill who finished 3rd in the 3-way race for Mayor and not in the runoff declines to endorse either candidate and chooses to endorse the voters-‘read more’ for complete statement.I want to begin with thanking everyone that voted in Tuesday’s election, and a special thanks to those who voted and supported me; especially my wife and family, Carole McGuire my campaign chairperson and Cammie McGuire as Treasurer.
I entered the race for Mayor because I felt I offered better leadership, and could communicate better with the Council, staff and other civic organizations. I felt I could move this City forward with the consensus of all the citizens, not just a handful of individuals with their own agendas; but that option is now gone. Now I must move forward and continue my term in office with all of your best interest in mind; my campaign obligations have been fulfilled and my best efforts have been put forth. During the campaign I ran against both Mark Vulich and Jennifer Graf because I felt I had a good track record over the first two years in office and was the best person for the position, and I still have the same thoughts.
The question now comes back, as it did on Tuesday night from every reporter in town, five minutes after the results;”who are you going to support and endorse in the runoff.” My role in this election process is done, and I have decided to put my Support and Endorsement in You the public, the ones that I represent. I endorse the idea that You will make the final and best decision for the outcome of this race. With that said, if You the public will promise to get engaged, get back in the election process on December 1st, then I will promise to support Your decision, and work with whomever you choose.
