There were three candidates seeking the vacant seat.

Elections Commissioner Eric Van Lanker reports unofficial totals show 681 votes cast in the election. He reports that’s about a 19-percent turnout.

A resignation from a council member created the vacancy,

While voters in November elected two council members the vacancy was not on the ballot. The council attempted to fill the vacancy by appointment but couldn’t reach a majority vote.
Willis ran in November and was third. Saxon also was on the ballot in November and finished fifth. Weller was not on the ballot in November.
The County Board will canvass the results to make the vote official.
