The Iowa Governors Traffic Safety Bureau supported the program held this past week.

During the operation there was a DeWitt Police Office stationed on a locomotive traveling on the tracks in DeWitt activating the crossing signals.  The office contacted patrol cars stationed near the crossing if there was a violation.

During the event, the DeWitt Police Offices and Union Pacific Railroad Police issued 12 written warnings for violations of railroad crossing codes.  The warnings are designed to document the contact with the officers and provide a chance to educate the motorists.
