Tentative schedule of meetings this week

County Board, School Board, City Council and other meetings on the tentative schedule of meetings this week.

The Clinton County Board has their regular Monday morning business session.  The Supervisors will consider awarding a contract for the roof replacement at the courthouse.  There were two bids for the projects.  The low bid was from Sterling Commercial Roofing for about 276-thousand dollars.

The Clinton School Board has a Committee Of The Whole Session on Monday.  That meeting will be at 5:30 at the Administrative Center.

The Board will consider approval of several employee contracts.  The Clinton Education Association proposed contract is for a 2-point-49 percent package increase.  Other proposed contracts with the other groups are for similar package increases.

On Tuesday the city will celebrate the work with Augustana College over this past school year.  The city was chosen for the work of the students and staff on a series of about a dozen projects.

In the last year, more than 330 Augustana students from 20 classes logged 3370 hours working on projects in collaboration with the city of Clinton, with nearly 500 of those hours spent in the city.

Twelve of the projects will be represented at the celebration, which is intended to give residents and the City Council an update of the progress made in the last year. All projects represent some aspect of Clinton’s strategic plan.

The event will Tuesday at 4 o’clock at Eagle Point Park Lodge.

Also on Tuesday – The Iowa Utility Board will hold a public comment meeting in Clinton on a proposed rate increase from Iowa American Water Company.

In the filings, Iowa American calculates the increase to be about five dollars per month for the average customer-bringing the average month bill to 38-dollars and 36 cents from the current average of 33 dollars and 26 cents.

There will be public comment meeting in Clinton on May 24th at Clinton Community College Technology Center at 5:30.

The state panel will determine the rate increase.

Tuesday night it will be the regular meeting of the Clinton City Council.

Among the actions on the agenda is to modify the driving lanes on South 3rd Street from 4th Avenue South to 7th Avenue South from three to two lanes.  That change allows a disabilities parking area in front of city hall and additional parking areas in the other blocks.

 

During a Committee Of The Whole session the council will hear an update on the broker’s activities related to the Railpark.

The council will also continue a discussion about the potential sale or use of the currently unused trolley.

The Northeast School Board is meeting on Tuesday evening at 5.

The board will review the infrastructure priority list, video surveillance policy and a Hall Of Fame proposal.

The board also plans a closed session concerning a legal matter.
