Local Unemployment Rate Drops

With more people considered employed and fewer unemployed the unemployment rate for Clinton and Clinton dropped in April for the March statistics.

The Iowa Workforce Development Agency reported the unemployment rate in Clinton County was at 4.9 percent.  That’s down from 5.5 percent in March.  However that is an increase from April of 2015 when the rate was 4.6 percent.

In March the state agency reported 22,940 people were considered employed in Clinton County and that increased to 23,150 in April.  Those considered unemployed dropped from 1,330 in March to 1,290 in April.

In the city the report was similar.  The unemployment rate in April was 5.1 percent and that was down from 5.3 in March.

The number of people considered employed increased by 100 from March to April’s number of 12,030.  Those considered unemployed decreased from 670 to 650.
