A Bit Warmer than Normal for June

June was a little warmer than normal with more rain than usual.

Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says the overall tempeture was a couple of degrees above normal (71.3) at nearly74 (73.3) degrees for the month.

He says it was the warmest June since 2005 and was the 16th warmest June in records to 1879.

There were four days with temperatures in the 90’s and that matches the average of four days.

The highest temperature recorded by Blaess was 92 on June 10th and 15th and the lowest was 50 degrees on the 8th.

Blaess says the official rainfall was 5.77 inches in June.  That is about an inch above the normal of 4.6 inches.

The year to date total precipitation is 17.59 inches which is about .68 of an inch above normal for the fist six months of the year.

In July, Blaess says you can expect about 3.6 inches of rain.  The weather observer says you can also expect six days with temperatures in the 90’s.

Blaess says the overall average high is about 85 degrees for the month with the low averaging 64 for the month.
