Suicidal Subject on Highway 30 Bridge

The Highway 30 Bridge was closed for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon (Friday) due a suicidal subject on the bridge.

Clinton Police report they were called about 1:45 on a call of an adult male walking on the bridge waving his arms.  Officers found an adult male threatening to jump off the bridge near the center span of the bridge.  The bridge was closed and traffic detoured to the Highway 136 bridge.

Crisis negotiators from the Clinton Police Department and Clinton County Sheriff’s Department talked with the individual, They were able to bring the individual in and he was taken to the Mercy North Medical Center for treatment.

No other information will be released by the Clinton Police Department.
