It’s COLD

This month already has more days with zero and below temperatures than the past two Decembers combined.

Clinton area official weather observer Jim Blaess says in December 2011 and 2012 there were no days when it when it was zero or below.  He says this month that has happened twice in the first few days of the month.  Blaess says it was zero on Monday the 9th and this morning-on the 10th it was 9 degrees below zero.  That reading was the coldest weather in the area since February 10th of 2011 when it was minus 17.

In another comparison to the cold start of the winter weather, Blaess pointed out that in the winter of 2011-2012 there was one time when it was zero or below and in the winter of 2012-2013 that happened three times and this winter 2012-2014 it has happened twice.

The normal high for this time of year is 35 and the average low is 20.
