Absentee Voting Available for Clinton School District Special Election

Clinton County Auditor Eric Van Lancker has announced that absentee ballots for the September 13, 2016, Clinton Community School District Special Election are available in the Clinton County Auditor’s Office starting Thursday, August 25, 2016. ‘Read more’ for the statement from the Elections Commissioner’s Office.

Absentee ballots may be cast in the Clinton County Auditor’s Office at the Clinton County Administration Building, 1900 N. 3rd St., Clinton, IA, during regular office hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday starting August 25 through September 12. However, the office will be closed for the holiday on September 5.

The Clinton Community School District Special Election features a public measure. Proposition C asks voters for approval of a physical plant and equipment levy at a rate not to exceed 75-cents per one thousand dollars of assessed value for ten years.

Absentee ballots must be requested in writing. Request forms are available at the Auditor’s Office, on the Clinton County Web site at www.clintoncounty-ia.gov and at the Iowa Secretary of State’s Web site at www.sos.state.ia.us. Requests for ballots to be mailed to a voter’s home must be received in the Auditor’s Office before 5 p.m. September 9.

Voted ballots that are mailed back to the Auditor’s Office must be postmarked before midnight September 12 to be counted. An absentee ballot may also be returned in person to the Auditor’s Office before polls close at 8 p.m. on September 13.
