Mailing Causing Confusion About Voter Registration Status

Clinton County Auditor Eric Van Lancker said a letter being sent to residents around the state may not contain accurate information concerning a voter’s registration status. ‘Read more’ for the statement from the local Auditor’s Office

Van Lancker said his office has received inquiries this week from Clinton County voters concerning a letter sent from The Voter Participation Center in Des Moines. The letter may state that the resident is not registered to vote.

Van Lancker said the Iowa Secretary of State’s office informed Auditor’s Offices around the state this week that the mailing was not prepared from the state voter registration data base.

“We are finding out that many of the folks who call us about this letter are, in fact, registered to vote,” Van Lancker said. “However, my office is more than happy to assist any voters who want to make sure they are properly registered to vote.”

A Clinton County voter can check on their registration status by calling the Clinton County Auditor’s Office at 563-244-0568. A voter can also use the “Am I Registered to Vote in Iowa” web page found on the Iowa Secretary of State’s web site at: https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/voterreg/regtovote/search.aspx
