Nearly 6 inches of snow

The Saturday night into Sunday snowfall total was 5.8 of snow.  Official Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says that 24-hour snowfall is the most in a 24 hour period since February 1st and 2nd, 2011 when there was 9.7 inches.

Blaess says the month to date snow total is now 12.2 inches which is nearly four inches above the average (8.3) December snowfall.

The weather observer also pointed out that this morning’s low of 3-below zero was fifth day this month with zero or below temperatures and that compares to the normal of three for the month.  Blaess added the number of zero or below days is likely to increase with below zero readings predicted for this week.
