NEW ALL TIME WEATHER RECORD TODAY

Today’s (Wednesday) high temperature will be in the record book in two sections.

Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says the high temperature reached 73 degrees and that broke the record for February 22nd of 65 set February 15th, 1922.

The 73 degrees is also the warmest reading in February in the weather records for the Clinton area to the late 1880’s. The previous record was 71 recorded on February 15th in 1921.

Now third on the list is 70 on February 25th in 2000.  It also was 69 on February 27th of 1976.

It was also 69 for the high on Friday and Blaess says that broke the record for February 17th of 63 set in 1981.

On Saturday the temperature reached 65 and that broke the record for the 18th of 61 set in 1913 and tied in 1981.

On Sunday the high was 68 and that tied the record for February 19th set first in 1930.

Blaess reports the high Monday was 68 and broke the record high for the 20th of  64 set in 1983.

Blaess says Tuesday’s high temperature was short of the record for February 21st – Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says the high on Tuesday was 64.  The record for the date is 66 set in 1930.

So far this month there are now six days with 60 or above temperature.  There were six days in 1976 and seven days of 60 or above in 1930 that Blaess says could be matched.

The average high for this period on February, according to Blaess is the upper 30’s.
