Statement from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office on rural death

On 5/8/14 at around 2217 hours Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a farm field located in the 2000 blk of 170th St for a subject pinned in a corn planter. Upon the arrival of emergency crews, a male subject was found lying on the ground next to a tractor and planter. The victim was identified as Donald Cain, age 75, of rural Delmar. Cain was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Maquoketa Ambulance, Lost Nation First Responders, Iowa State Patrol, and the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
