August below normal for rain and normal for temps

It was a dry start for August with some rain in the last couple of weeks and temperatures finished about normal.

Through the first 15 day of August there was no precipitation recorded by Clinton Area Weather Observer Jim Blaess. He added that over the last couple of weeks there was about 3.5 inches of rain and the month ended a little more than an inch below the normal of about 4-point-6 inches.
Blaess says for the year-to-date precipitation the area is about an inch above normal for the first eight months with about 25.7 inches of precipitation.

Blaess says the overall temperature was about normal at about 73 degrees. There was one day highs in the 90’s and Blaess says the normal is four days.
The highest reading was 91 on the 24th and the lowest was 52 on the 13th.

For this month, Blaess says you can expect one day in the 90’s with about 3 inches of precipitation. Temperatures on September 1st average 81 for the high and 60 for the low and by the end of the month those have dropped to 71 and 48.

Last year September was 8th warmest in local weather records.
