November was cold-where did it rank in Clinton weather records

November tied as the 10th coldest November on records to 1879 according to Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess.

He reported it was also the coldest November since 1996. The overall temperature was 33 degrees which is nearly 7 degrees below the normal.
The warmest day was November 3rd when it was 66 and the coldest was the 21st when it was 5 degrees.
Blaess also noted that during the middle of the month, from November 11th to 21st, there was nearly 10 days the temperature never got above freezing. He says that’s unusual for November.

Precipitation for the month was 1.96 inches which Blaess said was about two-tenths of an inch below normal
That total included 3.7 inches of snow which is the most snow in a November since 1997 when there was about ten inches. The normal snowfall for November is about 1.5 inches.

Precipitation for first eleven months of the year is just over 35 inches and is about 2.75 of an inch above normal.

In December, Blaess said you can expect about eight inches of snow and three days with below zero temperatures.
In contrast, the weather observer pointed out that December 2013 had about 14.5 inches of snow and 8 days with below a zero temperature and was the 17th coldest December in records to 1879.
