Damage assessment and clean-up is underway today after severe storms moved through the Clinton area last evening. ‘Read more’ for details-
Damage is reported throughout the city and the area.
The Clinton County Emergency Management Agency reports a tornado was spotted in DeWitt and a tornado was seen near the Clinton Municipal Airport plus a tornado was reported near Fulton, Illinois.
Wind damage has been reported included downed trees and limbs and power lines. Alliant Energy reported that the peak there were 2-thousand*221 customers were without power in their service area. There were also two semi’s tipped over on Highway 61 near DeWitt.

The E-M-A opened the Emergency Operations Center with officials from the emergency service agencies to handle the storm issues.

Clinton County and Clinton City Officials extended thanks to area citizens for their assistance with storm related damage in the aftermath of the tornados and related events.S
