Electrical problem at the main Public Library building

The Clinton Public Library will be closing early – at 7 pm – until an electrical malfunction can be repaired.  Library Director Amy Birtell tells KROS NEWS that a ‘ballast blew” in a light unit on the main floor.

She said sparks and fire were evident with dark smoke and a strong odor after it blew.  The fire department did come to the scene to make sure the fire was completely out.

Birtell said the library will be closing at 7 pm until the unit can be fixed and the electricity can be turned on again.

This was an older light unit according to the Library Director.  She added “we never know when to expect another break.”
