Clinton city leaders hope to start arranging meetings with other area governmental bodies.
Internal Operations Committee member Jennifer Graf suggested the meetings with the Clinton County Supervisors and the Clinton School Board a couple of times a year. She says the groups could trade information about various issues.
City Administrator Jeffrey Horne said similar meetings were held when he worked in Johnson County and would like to expand the meetings to other governments and possibly have separate meetings as topics warrant-but believed such meetings were a good idea.
The Internal Operations Committee asked Horne to inquire if the other bodies were interested in those types of meetings before developing a more specific plan.

Horne also updated the committee on a new policy to be instituted administratively in the case of weather emergency closings. He says employees will be expected to work in severe weather-unless they use some form of time off.
Horne says a memo would be going out to employees on the change and it did not require council action.

The issue of donated land to the city was also a topic for the committee. Interim city attorney David Pillars told the committee the city should have a policy or guidelines on accepting land donations to insure it meets the city’s plan.
The city will be looking at other cities to find out if any have similar policies that can be used and adjusted for a local policy.
