February Weather Stats
(Clinton) -- The month of February turned out to be cooler than normal.
Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess reports the mean temperature during February was 22.4 degrees which is 4.5 degrees below the normal of 26.9 degrees. Blaess reports we had a high of 40 degrees on Sunday, the last day of the month. Blaess records show the only other time we had 40 degrees was January 13th of this year. The area recorded of low of minus 4 degrees on Feburary 11th. There were 2 zero or below days for the month, and the normal is 3 days.
Precipitation for February was 0.84 inches, which is 0.66 below the normal of 1.5 inches for the year. Blaess recorded 9.9 inches of snow during February, which is 3.1 inches above the normal of 6.8 inches. For the winter season, which runs October through February, the area has recorded 35 inches of snow, which is 9.3 inches above the normal of 25.7 inches. For March, we can expect 2.23 inches of precipitation and 3.3 inches of snow. Blaess has records for March of 2009 which showed it be the 6th wettest on record with 4.79 inches of precipitation. At the first of March we can look for a high of 38 degrees and lows of 21, and by March 31st look for highs of 53 degrees and lows of 33 degrees.
