A new officer has joined the CPD & a promotion in the CFD. A new officer has joined the Clinton Police Department. Brennen Roling began his career with the Clinton Police Department on May 11, 2015. A Swearing in ceremony was held Tuesday afternoon.
Roling is the son of Frederick and Debora Roling. Frederick is a Battalion Chief with the Clinton Fire Department and Debora is a former police officer.
Roling is a 2009 graduate of Clinton High School. He graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in April, 2014 and most recently worked for the Louisa County Iowa Sheriff’s Office. Before that he worked part-time for the Sabula, Preston, Bellevue and Maquoketa Police Departments.
Also – a promotion within the department was recognized. Matt Lorenzen was promoted to Corporal.
He has served with the Clinton Police Department since 1994. During his tenure with the Clinton Police Department, Lorenzen has been assigned several specialized tasks including; K9 officer, Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Bike officer, Peer Support liaison, and assistant team leader for the multi-agency tactical team, H.E.A.T. For the past three and a half years, Cpl. Lorenzen served as a School Resource Officer (SRO). He holds an A.A. degree in Law Enforcement and a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice.
Cpl. Lorenzen is a lifelong member of the City of Clinton. He is married to his wife Julie and together they have three children. In his off time, Cpl. Lorenzen enjoys spending time in the outdoors fishing and hunting.
Cpl. Lorenzen is excited about his new position and looks forward to keeping the citizens of Clinton safe and promoting professionalism among fellow officers.

There also has been a promotion in the Clinton Fire Department. Firefighter Ryan Killean was promoted to the rank of Engineer, to fill the vacancy due to the retirement of Engineer Gregg Lind.
A ceremony was held Tuesday in conjunction with the graduation ceremony for the 2nd Citizen’s Fire Academy.
