Meet the three candidates for Clinton Police Chief and other meetings scheduled for this week.
The Clinton County Board has their regular meeting on Monday morning. The session starts at 9:15 at the County Administration Building. The Supervisors will consider the repair of the courthouse roof. The roof was damaged in a storm earlier this spring and various options for repair have been reviewed. The County Board will also get an update of the Administration Building parking lot improvement project.
Three finalists will be interviewed Monday for the post of Clinton Police Chief. The announcement was issued through the City Administrator’s Office. The City Administrator ‘hires’ the Police Chief with Council approval. The three were selected from among 33 applicants. Ten of those were certified by the Clinton Civil Service Commission to consider. Five of those were selected for further assessment which led to the three finalists. The finalists will be interviewed in Clinton on August 3rd with the public invited to meet and hear the candidates.
The finalists include Clinton Police Captain Tom Bohle who has been serving as the interim Police Chief since the retirement of Brian Guy from the post. He has been with the Clinton Police Department for 27 years.
Commander with the Evanston, Illinois Police Department Ryan Glew is another finalist. He has spent his 18 years in law enforcement in Evanston, Illinois.
The other finalist is Chief of the West Liberty, Iowa Police Department Kevin Gyrion. He has been there for about a year. Prior to taking that job he served about 28 years in law enforcement in Chicago.
One hour sessions have been set with each candidate on August 3rd.
Kevin Gyrion will interview at 1:30 – Tom Bohle at 2:30 and Ryan Glew at 3:30.
The public ‘meet and greet’ and presentations will take place at council chambers at Clinton City Hal. The public is invited to meet the candidates at those sessions.
City Administrator Jessica Kinser indicated she anticipates presenting a resolution to appoint a candidate as Police Chief at the August 11th Council meeting.
The Clinton City Council will have their first Tuesday of the month Committee Of The Whole Sessions this week.
On Wednesday the Clinton City Council members and Clinton Area Regional Development Corporation representatives will interview real estate brokers seeking to gain the job of marketing the rialport industrial park.
There were four applications to the ‘request for proposal’ for the job. Those four firms will be interviewed during the day on August 5th.
The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that work is scheduled to start on a project on the Highway 30 bridge over the Mississippi River in Clinton.
A contractor will be applying a concrete sealer to the bridge deck to help preserve the structure from water and salt entering the concrete.
During the work on the bridge between Clinton and Fulton, the Illinois D-O-T says traffic will be restricted tone line, Drivers should be prepared to stop for vehicles waiting for the traffic controllers.
