The Clinton City Council meets in a Committee Of The Whole Session on Tuesday.
The council is scheduled to discuss filling the vacancy on the council created by the resignation of At-Large Council Member Grant Wilke. That resignation surfaced December 24th effective at the end of December. Wilke did not indicate a reason in his resignation. He declined an interview with KROS. Before the council has discussed the issue-one person has formally indicated an interest in filling out the remaining two years of the term
The council can appoint a person to fill the vacancy and if they don’t take that action in 40 days there would be a special election-even if the council appoints someone the citizens could still petition for an election.
Jennifer Graf submitted a letter to city hall on Sunday evening (via email to the City Clerk) to distribute to the council stating her interest in the position. The letter was also distributed to the media.
Graf lost a run-off election for the mayor’s post against incumbent Mark Vulich on December 1st. She also has previously served on the City Council and lost a bid for re-election two years ago.
In addition to the council vacancy there will also be reports about an update to the consent decree with the D-N-R for mandated sewer work and the School Resource Officer Program.
The council meeting is at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening.
