Sheriff Rick Lincoln is seeking re-election for a fifth term as Clinton County Sheriff. ‘Read more’ for the complete statement from the candidateLincoln plans to use his 31 years of experience to continue to work on his goals for improving the service provided to the citizens of Clinton County.
Sheriff Lincoln was instrumental in forming the Clinton County Justice Coordinating Commission. Leaders of the various agencies come together in order to collaborate to improve the justice system in Clinton County, Iowa.
“As sheriff, I believe that our efforts to educate the vulnerable members of society in order to help them from becoming victims of crime is one of the most important things we do. We are not strictly a law enforcement agency, we are a service agency.” said Lincoln. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office utilizes the D.A.R.E, Internet Crimes Against Children and Seniors vs. Crime programs to protect our children as well as our senior citizens.
Lincoln intends to continue working toward solutions regarding problems with the jail. He is also currently involved with researching a new public safety software suite and purchasing two new K-9s. Lincoln will be able to fully fund the K-9s through grants and will be able to partially purchase software through additional grant funding.
Lincoln, 55, is a Democrat and a 31-year veteran of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, with 16 years of experience as a deputy sheriff prior to being elected to his first term. He is a graduate of Central-DeWitt High School; Clinton Community College with an associate’s degree in law enforcement, the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, the Rural Executive Management Institute and the National Sheriff’s Institute. Lincoln served on the board of directors for the Iowa State Sheriffs’ and Deputies’ Association as an at-large board member. He also served on the ISSDA legislative committee. Lincoln was a founding member of the Gateway Area Police Administrators, which allows all law enforcement agencies in Clinton County and Fulton, Illinois to share information, training and resources. In the past Sheriff Lincoln also served as the board chair for Gateway Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Lincoln resides in DeWitt with his wife, Mary. They have two sons, Mitchell, 29, and Chad, 27.
