Effective December 21, 2015 all owners of drones and/or remote control aircraft weighing more than 0.55 pounds and less than 55 pounds must register with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) registry before they fly outdoors. Cost for registration is $5 and may be completed online by visiting www.faa.gov/uas/registration . Drone and remote control aircraft operators who do not register could face civil and criminal penalties.
Per FAA regulations, drone and remote control aircraft operators must contact Airport Authorities if operating within a 5 mile radius of any airport.
