Tentative schedule of governmental meetings this week

The Clinton County Board, Clinton School Board & Clinton City Council have meetings this week

The Clinton County Board has their usual Monday morning session.  The Supervisors will consider approval of the county incentives as part the Home Base Iowa program designed to attract people to the area after their get out of the military.

The County Board is considering offering some financial reimbursement to come to Clinton County to interview for a local job, some financial aid if a former military person buys a house in the County and offering to waive the permit fees to start a new business.

The County Board is hoping other entities follow their lead and offer their own incentives.

The Clinton School Board will be faced with sports sharing agreements when they meet tonight.  It’s a Committee Of The Whole Session, but the business items have been placed on the agenda.

The proposals for some area schools to share sports activities with the Clinton Schools ended in a tie 3 to 3 vote a couple of weeks and that put them on the agenda for this meeting.  The Board had the tie vote on the boy’s proposal and then tabled the girl’s proposal until this meeting.

School officials say the deadline to submit the agreements to the state is the end of this month.

The Board meets at 5:30 at the Administrative Center.

The Clinton City Council meets this week in a business and committee of the whole session.  The council has only a few items to consider on the business agenda.

During the Committee Of The Whole session the council will consider the Traffic Study Commission to make 3rd Street a two lane street from 4th Avenue to 7th Avenue South.  That will allow the city to establish A-D-A parking by city hall and other changes could be made in the other two blocks for parking.

The council will also consider a proposal from a bidder to purchase the trolley for 5-thousand and 2 dollars.  The trolley would be used to enhance the services of D-J Services and Photography locally.  The issue of selling the unused trolley has been discussed by the council several times, but no local bidders has submitted a proposal until now.
