The Tuesday overnight-into Wednesday storms amounted to just under two and a half inches of rain recorded by Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess.
He says that is the 3rd highest 24 hour total in July in the last 30 years and the 17th most since in July since 1879.
Blaess says the 2.44 inches overnight brings the month’s total to 2.54 of an inch.
The normal precipitation in July is 3-point-6 inches.
The year to date total is 20.13 inches and that compares to the average for the first seven months of 20.51 of an inch.
