The Clinton Police Department has received several calls reference the “crazy clown” or “killer clown” prank. This prank has alarmed many citizens and few can find the humor in the clowns actions. ‘Read more’ to see the complete statement from the CPD
It appears the individuals dressing up as clowns are using the costume to play childish games. No one has reported being injured or physically assaulted by a clown in Clinton. The Clinton Police Department strongly discourages anyone from intimidating others or possessing what may be considered a dangerous weapon. If anyone feels the need to be dressed in scary attire we encourage them to wait until Halloween and participate in the festivities instead of scaring people now.
We want our citizens to feel safe. We do not encourage anyone to approach or antagonize any individual who has chosen to dress in a scary costume. We suggest avoiding them if possible. Please contact the Clinton Police Department if you witness anyone possessing what appears to be a dangerous weapon or intimidating others.
