Most area schools report enrollment declines-except DeWitt

Area schools are reporting declining enrollment this school year. The official count was earlier this month and official reports have been recently been filed with the state.

The Clinton School District is showing a decline of 82 resident students to 3,397

There was an  increase in students open enrolling out of the district by 22 to 379 students and about 51 students coming into the district and increase of four.

That calculates to 3,452 students being served – a drop of 76 from last year.

There was an increase of 3 students in the preschool program to 225.

The Camanche School District also had a drop in students.

There are 1,073 students being served in the district and that’s a drop of 22.

There was a drop in resident students of 15 to 862 while there was also a drop in open enroll students coming to Camanche by 6 to 209.

The students open enrolling out of the Camanche District went up by 9 to 53.  That still means a net gain of 156 students through the open enrollments

In the Camanche Disttrict, the enrollment in the elementary level was stable with drops at the middle school and high school levels.

The Northeast School District also reports a drop in enrollment.  The certified resident enrollment was 524 and that’s a drop of 27.  The Northeast District has 364 students coming to the district through open enrollment and 53 leaving the district.

That means 834 students are attending the Northeast Schools and that’s a drop of 13.

The Central DeWitt School District did report an increase in enrollment.  Resident students counted 1,391 which is an increase of 13 students.

There are about 111 students open enrolling into the district and 72 leaving the district.

That means an increase in the students attending the district.
