– Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says Monday morning ended a 30 hour stretch of below zero temperatures.
Blaess says it dropped below zero about 4 A-M Sunday and rose to one above about 9:30 today.
During that stretch, Blaess says it dropped to 12 below zero on the 18th and 13 below zero on the 19th.
Blaess added so far this month there has been four days with below zero readings. He says last year in the December through February period there were three days with below zero readings and all of those were in January 2016.
The weather observer also said that in December 2015 the lowest temperature was 14 degrees. That tied 1931 and 1952 for the warmest low in the month.
Blaess says there has been just over 14 inches (14.4) of snow so far this month and compares with the normal of just under nine inches (8.7).
