After a search process – the new head of the Clinton Parks and Recreation Department is Josh Eggers – who has worked for the department for several years. ‘Read more’ if you missed this story on-the-air’ on Tuesday.
A replacement was needed after the retirement of long time director Greg Obrenn.
City Administrator Matt Brook said out of the 34 candidates the field was narrowed to four finalists.
He says the finalists were interviewed by three different panels and all three chose Eggers as the top candidate.
Brooke said that in the process another candidate stood out and was offered a job as the first ‘Assistant Parks and Rec Director.’ Cathy Marx accepted that post.
She is currently working in the Indianapolis area. She grew up in the Port Byron, Illinois area and attended the University Of Iowa and played basketball at the university.
Brooke called her an extraordinary leader.
Another key position has also been filled at city hall.
Brooke announced that the new Clinton City Clerk is Lisa Frederick effective June 30, 2017. Frederick will be replacing Pat Van Loo, who will be retiring on July 27, 2017. Frederick joins the City coming from the County Satellite office in DeWitt, where she has been the Clinton County Board of Health Administrative Assistant for past three years.
