Officials Assess Flooding in City of Clinton

Emergency officials in Clinton County are responding to reports of damage from flooding due to heavy rain experienced overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. ‘Read more’ for the complete statement issued through the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency.

A majority of the flooding reports are within the City of Clinton. City officials remind citizens not to drive or walk through flooded areas. The City of Clinton Public Works Department reports pumps are running at all pump stations to help alleviate the flooded areas.

City officials report the flood waters in the hardest hit area around Manufacturing Drive are starting to recede. Officials said the gates and pumps around Mill Creek are working.

City officials, with the assistance of the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency, will request a State Individual Assistance Program designation from the Iowa Governor’s Office. That designation could assist income-qualified home owners with cleanup of their properties.

A call center is being established for any citizens who would like to report flooding issues or who are in need of assistance with cleanup. The call center can be reached at 563-244-3478 and will be available on Saturday until 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning on Monday, residents of the City of Clinton can report flooding related issues to the City of Clinton Public Works Department at 563-242-0261.
