Clinton Police are investigating a case being termed ‘animal neglect’. UPDATED-CHARGES NOW FILED IN THE CASE

UPDATE FROM THE CPD-CHARGES FILED IN THIS CASE-SEE ADDITION AT THE END OF THE STATEMENT

A statement issued by the Clinton Police Department says the case started Wednesday evening when the Clinton Humane Society asked for some help from the C-P-D. 

Officers responded to 422 4th Avenue North to help remove Pit Bull dogs from the residence.

Officers located eight live dogs and one deceased dog at the address.  They also determined the residence had no power, heat or water.  An owner of the residence allowed the dogs to be removed from the house and taken to the Humane Society.

The Police stated the dogs were covered in feces and blood.  The residence owner claimed the dogs were fighting inside the residence and she was unable to control the dogs so she called for assistance.  According to the homeowner one dog was killed by another dog.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clinton Police Department.  Charges are pending in the case according to the Police Department statement.

Update: On February 23, 2018 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Officers from the Clinton Police Department located Teresa Muhs. Muhs was subsequently charged with nine counts of animal neglect.

This incident still remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.
