Last month was 7th wettest in Clinton weather records to 1879

February was colder than normal with more precipitation than normal.  Clinton Area Weather Observer Jim Blaess says the precipitation was 3.26 inches and was the 7th most in a February in the records to 1879.

The normal precipitation total is 1.63 inches.   On the 19th and 20th , Blaess says there was 1.78 inches of precipitation which was the 4th most in a 24 period in February in the records to 1879.

During the month there was 14.3 inches snow compared to the normal of 7.6 inches.

There was also measurable snow on eight straight days.  Blaess says broke the record of seven days of snow in January 1886.

Blaess says the overall temperature was 25.1 degrees which was about one degree below the normal 26.3.  The weather observer says there five days with zero or below temperatures and the normal is three days.

During the meteorological winter of December through February Blaess says there was 4.87 inches of precipitation which was about at the average (4.9).

During the three months, Blaess says there was 25.7 inches of snow.  The normal snow during the meteorological winter is 21.2 inches.

Blaess says during the ‘winter’ the overall temperature was 24.1 degrees and the normal is 25.1 degrees.

The local weather observer says there were 19 days with zero or below weather.  Typically during the period there are 11 days.

For this month-Blaess says you can expect an average of 2.24 inches of precipitation with 3.1 inches of snow.

The average temperature increases from an average high of 41 and average low of 24 on March 1st to averages of 57 and 35 by the end of the month.
