Candidates for State & Federal Offices

Clinton area state legislators face challenges for the November election.  This past Friday was the deadline for filing for state and federal offices in Iowa.

Clinton Area State Representative Mary Wolfe – a Democrat-will be seeking another term.  Republican Reese Petersen of Clinton has filed nomination petitions to seek the seat for House District 98.

There will three way race for the House District 97 seat representing a portion of Clinton County.  Republican Norlin Mommsen is seeking re-election.  Democrat Tim McClimon of DeWitt and Libertarian David Melchert Junior of Grand Mound filed papers to seek the seat.

Area Senator Rita Hart – A Democrat is seeking re-election will be challenged by Republican Chris Cournoyer of LeClair for Senate District 49.

In the Federal race for the Second District Democrat Dave Loebsack filed for re-election.

Two Republicans will face off in a primary to challenge the incumbent.  Ginny Galigiuri of Osceola will be involved in a primary with Christopher Peters of Coralville.

Candidates for County Offices have until March 28th to file nomination petitions.

Clinton County offices on the ballot in 2018 include two Supervisor seats, Treasurer, Recorder and Attorney.

Two Republicans have announced intentions to run for County Treasurer.  Incumbent Rhonda McIntyre is seeking another term-but she is being challenge by current County Board Member Shawn Hammerlinck. His term on the Board is expiring this year.
