There will be a public hearing May 17th in Clinton on Alliant Energy’s proposal to raise natural gas rates.
The company has filed the request with the Iowa Utilities Board.
The proposal would increase the average bill by about eight percent or from an average residential bill of about 53 dollars a month to 60 dollars a month.
Alliant officials say bills have been reduced in recent years due to lower natural gas cost. The increased revenue is to pay for past and on-going improvements in the system.
The Clinton hearing is at 5:30 at the Clinton Community College Technology Center on May 17th.
