Clinton Schools To Host Chinese Students For A Second Year

The Clinton School District has a new one-year contract to host Chinese students with the Confucius International Education Group.

The deal continues a program started this past school year.  Clinton School Superintendent Gary DeLacy told the board one change is removing the required number of students.  In the initial contract the group paid for 63 students-no matter how many Chinese students came to Clinton.

Delacy said that requirement is not part of the new contract

and the Chinese Education group has a goal of 45 students

DeLacy said he believed the district a good relationship with CIEG.  He said that may be a key during the high school renovation plan to be able to use the CIEG campus.

Clinton High School Principal J-R Kuch said it was a positive experience this past year with Chinese students.

The School Board approved the new one year pact.

DeLacy also noted the reimbursement from CIEG will increase from $6,777 to $6,915 under state funding levels.
