Brian Ellis Portrays John Deere at Miller Program

During a first person dialogue, Brian Ellis will be portraying the well-known John Deere at a private board meeting as Deere announces his retirement.  The founder of the company reflects on his life of successes and struggles.  Next he envisions the changes in agriculture in the future and how the company will transform to meet the needs of the evolving industry.  The presentation will conclude with a discussion of issues such as the pros and cons of agriculture versus agribusiness, the role of technology and mechanization, the family farm, etc.  Join us for a look into the future of agriculture.

Brian “Fox” Ellis is an internationally acclaimed author, storyteller, historian, and naturalist who presently lives in Bishop Hill, IL.  He has worked with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield and the Field Museum in Chicago; plus dozens of other museums across the country.  Frequently, a keynote speaker at regional and international conferences, Brian addresses a number of diverse topics.

This program is hosted by the Volunteer Millers of de Immigrant authentic Dutch windmill.  The event is free and open to the public on Thursday, September 12 at 6:00pm in the Windmill Cultural Center located at 111- 10th Avenue, Fulton, Illinois across from the windmill.  The facility is accessible to persons with disabilities.  All Miller programming is financially supported by funding through a D.S. Flikkema Foundation grant.  Light refreshment will be served following the presentation.
