Three people have applied to fill the vacancy in the Third Ward Clinton City Council seat.
Tuesday was the deadline to apply.
The council will consider the applications from Shelly McKenzie, Todd Dierks and Ron Mussmann
The council chose to appoint someone to the seat, but under the rules citizens could still petition for a special election. The term runs until the end of 2022.
Seth Odor resigned from the council earlier this month due to a job change and moving out of the community.
The council will meet on Thursday in a special session and determine an interview process.
Under the Home Rule Charter the council has until February 9th to make the appointment.
