Contest Rules

When you are playing on-air/or other contests on KROS 1340AM/105.9FM 1340AM/105.9FM, please observe the following general rules. They’re pretty simple, but if you have questions, please feel free to call us at 563-242-1252 between 10am and 3pm for clarification. (any future reference mentioning KROS 1340AM/105.9FM or this station refers to KROS 1340AM/105.9FM RADIO)

  1. All KROS 1340AM/105.9FM 1340AM/105.9FM contests are open to any/all KROS 1340AM/105.9FM listeners, unless otherwise specified by this station.

  2. No purchase is necessary to enter a contest.

  3. The decision of KROS 1340AM/105.9FM 1340AM/105.9FM is final in contest.

  4. Winners may be sign a release prior to receiving their prize if valued over 500 dollars.

  5. All prizes, unless otherwise specified, must be picked up within 2 weeks of winning. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM will not notify winners of the time remaining on their prize. It is the responsibility of the winner to claim the prize within the two weeks provided.

  6. All unclaimed prizes will be forfeited back to KROS 1340AM/105.9FM.

  7. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM is at liberty to give away any unclaimed prize at the end of two-week grace period.

  8. All major prizes will be given away by KROS 1340AM/105.9FM. Odds of winning will depend on the number of qualified entries.

  9. The station/business may substitute another prize of equal value, in the event of non-availability of a prize.

  10. In the case of a dispute over telephone calls, the decision of KROS 1340AM/105.9FM is final.

  11. Employees of KROS 1340AM/105.9FM are ineligible to enter/win.

  12. Prizes may be mailed at the discretion of KROS 1340AM/105.9FM. This station is not responsible for the failure or tardiness of prizes delivered via US Postal Service. Otherwise, prizes must be claimed in person unless otherwise specified. Proper identification (valid driver’s license, passport state ID, military ID) may be required

  13. In certain “unique situations”, a designated representative will be allowed to accept prizes for the winner.

  14. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM is not responsible for defective prizes.

  15. Additions or deletions to these rules may be made at the discretion of this station and may be enacted at any time.

  16. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM its agencies, affiliates, sponsors or representatives absolve themselves of any liability, financial or otherwise, resulting from any on or off-air contests staged by KROS 1340AM/105.9FM

  17. All contest entries become property of KROS 1340AM/105.9FM. Furthermore, KROS 1340AM/105.9FM may withhold any contest materials crucial to the completion of the contest.

  18. All contestants acknowledge, as a condition of entry, that KROS 1340AM/105.9FM has a right to publicize, or broadcast the winner’s name, character, likeness, voice or all matters incidental herein.

  19. All prizes are non-transferable and are void where prohibited by law. No cash substitution of prizes allowed.

  20. Winners understand and agree that they are responsible for any and all taxes incurred on prizes received.

  21. In the event that a winner chooses not to accept a prize, he or she forfeits all claim to the prize. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM then has the right, at its discretion, to award that prized to a contest runner-up.

  22. Sweepstakes/contests are open to U.S. residents only.

  23. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Contest is void where prohibited.

  24. There may be specific rules for specific KROS 1340AM/105.9FM contests

  25. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if any contest rules are violated in any way.

  26. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM assumes no liability for situations, repairs, or incidents arising from any aspect of any prize awarded in any contest. The station, its advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees, and immediate families of each are absolved and shall be held harmless from any action or liability arising from any contest or prize awarded in any contest.

  27. As a licensee of the FCC and a trustee of the public airwaves, KROS 1340AM/105.9FM reserves the right to interrupt and/or discontinue any contest or promotion (and not award the offered prize) at the discretion of the station management if world events, the national mood, or public safety so warrant.

  28. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM RADIO is not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or act of man or God, lost, late, misdirected, postage-due, unintelligible, returned, undelivered entries or email, or lost, interrupted or unavailable satellite, network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections availability, accessibility or traffic congestion, miscommunications, failed computer, network, telephone, satellite or cable hardware or software or lines, or technical failure, or jumbled, scrambled, delayed or misdirected transmissions, computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, or network. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of this contest or website, or act in violation of the official service, as solely determined by the station, will be disqualified. Neither sponsor nor promotion parties are responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information whether caused by website users, tampering, hacking, or by any of the programming or equipment associated with or used in this contest, and assumes no responsibility for any errors, omissions, deletion, interruption or delay in operation or transmission or communication line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized website access. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM RADIO is not responsible for injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from participating in this contest. Should any portion of contest be, in the KROS 1340AM/105.9FM Management sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the station, corrupt or impair administration, security, fairness or proper play of this contest, or contest plays, The station reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the contest.

  29. KROS 1340AM/105.9FM RADIO has not made nor is in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on prize (if any) are provided only by the manufacturer, and winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty and/or guarantee.

Rules for specific contests will be updated soon and available soon. Those rules will be announced on-air at the time of the contest.

Easter Ham/Thanksgiving Turkey

Participating sponsors are assigned an Easter Egg Color/Turkey Feather Color in ads airing Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday of the designated week.  On Thursday and Friday of the designated week the on-air talent requests phone calls to participate with the callers asked to name the business and corresponding colors.  The on-air person how many of the sponsors/colors the caller must name to be a winner.  That number is announced in announcing the request for calls.

The winners are mailed certificates from the major participating sponsor food store.

The contest typically runs for 2 weeks, but the duration is set each cycle dependent on sales staff and other on-air activities.

Grid Gallop

Based on college and NFL Football games.  Runs for the typical duration of the season(s) (generally 12-13 weeks).  Weekly winner received $100 or designated prize.

Participates picked of sheets at participating sponsors and return to those sponsors or the studio location. Participating sponsors are promoted on-the-air and on the KROS website.

Typically 20 games are on the card.  Participants must select their choice to win each game and select the final score for the designation tie-breaker game.  Errors in games on the care are disregarded.  Winner is based on the best record of the  games on the card.  Tie-breaker one is the closest to score on tie-breaker game.  Second tie-breaker is a blind draw by station staff.

Must be 21 years old or older. All entries are property of KROS.  Entries should be returned to participating sponsor by end of business on Thursday or the studio by end of business on Friday.  Entries submitted via USPS must be postmarked by Friday of the contest week.

NCAA Basketball Tournament

Participating sponsors are randomly assigned a team when the NCAA BB Tournament reaches the final 16.  Listeners can register at participating sponsors. An entrant from the business assigned the team winning the tournament is declared the winner.  The winner receives a package of prizes assembled by KROS valued at least $200.  Package will vary each year dependent on availability of items/certificates/etc.
