Wet & Cool Describes September Weather

Last month will be the 7th wettest September in Clinton weather records to 1879 according to official weather observer Jim Blaess.

He says there was 8.09 inches of precipitation during the month.  Blaess says the normal precipitation is 2.95 inches.  Most of the rain, Blaess says was recorded between September 6th to the 12th with 6.79 rain.

Blaess added that the past three Septembers are in the top ten for precipitation.

This year is 7th and 2018 with 7.94 inches of precipitation is 8th and September 2019 with 9.69 inches of precipitation is 4th on the list.

For the first nine months of 2020 Blaess says there has been 29.84 inches of precipitation. The normal is 27.8 inches.

Blaess says it was a cool month.  The weather observer says the overall temperature was 64.2 and this just below the normal of 65.1 degrees.

The highest temperature was 86 on the 2nd and the lowest was 42 in the 29th.  There were no days with 90 or above temperatures.  The normal is one day.

In October, Blaess says you can expect 2.44 inches of precipitation which includes a tenth-of-an-inch of snow.  But, Blaess pointed out last year there was just over five inches of snow.  That occurred over the last three days of the month and was the most since October of 1887.

Blaess says the average high on October 1st is 70 and average low is 47.  He says those drop to 57 and 38 by the end of the month.
