Warmer Than Normal In November

November 2020 will be the 4th warmest November in Clinton weather records to the late 1890’s.

Clinton Official Weather Observer Jim Blaess says the overall temperature was 46.1 degrees.  He says that’s 6.6 degrees above the normal for the month.

Blaess says there were also 8 days in row with temperatures in the 70’s from November 3rd to 10th.  He says that was a record for days with 70 or above in November.  The record had been six days in 1964.

Overnight lows were also above normal with 22 the lowest temperature in the month on the 2nd and 13th.  Blaess says that’s the 3rd warmest low in the month to 1891.

Blaess recorded 1.75 inches of precipitation. He says that is .38 below the normal of 2.12 inches.  There was 1.5 inches of snow which is about normal.

For the year-to-date the precipitation total is 33.46 inches. Blaess says that is about an inch above the normal for the first eleven months.

September-October and November was the meteorological Fall.  Blaess says the three month period was about a degree above normal.  The weather observer says precipitation was 4.2 inches above normal due to above average precipitation in September.  Blaess says the 1.7 inches of snow in the three months matches the average.

For December, Blaess says the average high on the first is 39 and low is 24.  Those drop to averages of 30 and 15 by December 31st.

He says there is an average of 1.82 inches of snow include 8.7 inches of snow in December.

Blaess added – as a reminder- last year on Christmas day it was 62 degrees and the warmest Christmas in Clinton weather records to 1879.  The old record had been 56 in 1982.
