The committee raising funds for a new handicapped accessible playground at Eagle Heights Elementary School have been honored as the Clinton School District Gold Key recipients for the month.
Eagle Heights teacher Tanya Van Lancker said the playground had been a combination of old equipment from the Horace Mann and Buell schools-but when that equipment could not be repaired a group decided to raise money for a new handicapped accessible playground so no kid would have to sit on the sidelines.
Van Lancker says the committee raised a tremendous amount of money for the project.
Committee members were introduced at the recent school board meeting. Katie Wilke accepted the award on behalf of those involved.
The award was presented at the recent school board meeting. The Gold Key Award is presented to individuals and group or organizations providing extra support to the school district.
