Clinton Public Works Director looks for way to improve the department response to the recent heavy snow and ice storm

Clinton Public Works Director Brian Lemke told the Clinton City Council the department has reviewed the response to the heavy snow and ice storm recently and looks for way to improve the department response.

Lemke updated the council on the department’s efforts and their ability to respond.

The Public Works Director outlined the equipment and manpower of the department.  Lemke noted they have eight snowplows and if all of the departments works were assigned plowing duty they would have 23 people available.  Lemke says some of those workers are learning on the job as they try to expand their efforts.

Lemke says they cover a lot of miles in clearing the snow.

The Public Works Director says the snowplow operators won’t take abuse from the public.

Lemke also suggested the city institute calendar parking on a year-round basis instead of only during a snow event.

Clinton Mayor Scott Maddasion praised Lemke and the department for reviewing the response.

The council agreed to review the suggestion to make calendar parking year-round but no timeline was set for discussion.
